Two parts are known as the upper part (upper deck) and the lower part (lower deck). The middle point metal dot in the abacus is the unit place or one’s place. The value of the upper beads is 5 and the lower beads is 1 on the unit place. Beads get their value when they move towards and touch the horizontal bar. For moving the beads thumb and index finger of the right hand and, index and middle of the left hand are used. Before starting the calculation, we have to set the abacus at zero value. we can set the abacus at zero by putting the index finger above the horizontal bar and the thumb below the bar and moving the fingers from right to left. It’s called cleaning of the abacus.
